Bloomberg Milan

The space located on the ground floor of Piazza Fontana, originally occupied by the historic Telerie Ghidoli store, overlooks the arcade of Via Arcivescovado with large windows. This condition of transparency and dialogue with the heart of Milan becomes a defining element, the statement of the interior spaces. The decorative richness of the Duomo and the Arengario Palace is reinterpreted in the design of the wood panelling, made of American walnut, which with finely milled full-height modules welcomes and guides the flow of people inside the space.

Like a backdrop, it opens up revealing a second layer, in glossy blue lacquered metal, which with soft curves accommodates and organizes the various functions required by the client, a financial international information service, news and media corporation. The program, based on the company design guidelines, is a functional mix within an open space: entrance, security desk, waiting area, break area for employees and guests, and event space. The fusion with urban space is emphasized by the choice of flooring material: terrazzo in cement and Carrara marble chips. The flat surface floor takes on a three-dimensional shape, delineating two islands used for the security counter and the bar counter, and a long suspended high bench overlooking the arcade.
